Growing up across Africa and Asia, I developed a deep appreciation for diverse landscapes and cultures, which later found expression in my creative work with clay. My practice centers around functional ware—mugs, teapots, dinnerware—though I also enjoy exploring sculpture when inspiration strikes. Each piece reflects a playful curiosity rooted in a love for the natural world and a reverence for the archetypal nature of clay, which I believe connects us to something timeless and grounding.
I’ve been fortunate to work closely with two master potters, Todd Piker and Joy Brown, whose influence has been transformative. Their mentorship has provided not only a wealth of knowledge but also access to their wood kilns, where much of my work is fired. Todd’s focus on form and detail has continually challenged me to elevate my craft, while Joy’s approach has inspired a deeper, almost meditative engagement with clay. Together, they instilled both the discipline to refine my techniques and the confidence to experiment, forming an invaluable foundation for my growth as an artist.
Today, in their kilns, I continue learning with each firing. My practice remains anchored in a commitment to exploration and evolution, always inspired by clay’s capacity to connect us to the earth and to each other.
